Tuesday, July 20th, 2010

by SamanthaScraptivity.

All this month in the Scraptiv!ty chat room the design team is focusing on fun and fast projects for summer, because lets face it, we’re all really busy right now! This month’s card sketch is sweet, simple and fast too:

Here’s my take on the sketch:

CS Example Hello

As you can see, there is a hole punched in the front of the card, so the embellishment can be placed on the inside, but seen through the outside of the card, too.

Sketch Example Inside

Now, time to announce the winner from the card sketch contest I held last month. The winner is Catherine with this bright and summery card:

Congrats Catherine! E-mail me at potaylor@hotmail.com with your address so I can mail you your prize.

I’d love to see what you do with this sketch. I’ve got a little RAK to send to someone who tries their hand at this sketch. Here are the rules:
1. Use the sketch above (you can flip it and change it a bit, but I still need to be able to recognize it).
2. For an added challenge, your card must have some stamping on it.
3. Post your card to the S! gallery here and post a comment on this blog letting me know you’ve entered a card.
4. Do all this by JULY 10.
5. Check this blog again on JULY 20. I’ll post the winner with next month’s card sketch.

May Card Sketch – Focus on Flowers

As you know, this whole month, the Design Team at Scraptiv!ty has been sharing different techniques for making hand-made flowers. You can find all of those techniques here, and there are still more to come. New techniques will be posted every day until the end of May.

Because there are so many great techniques, I designed this month’s card sketch to have one large focal image. That’s right, now you have no excuse not to try out one of those new flower techniques.

Here’s the sketch:

and here’s my card:

Just for you

I’d love to see your flower and card creations, so if you play along why not post your card here in the S! gallery? I promise to oooh and ahh over it if you do!

Cut out flower shapes (see template). Layer, crush, shape and glue layers together. Webster’s Pages glitter sparklers in the centre.

I’m really excited about this month’s sketch. It’s a bit different, and I think there are a world of possibilities for it. Here’s the sketch:

I needed a masculine thank you card, so that’s what I made with the sketch:

CardSketchBySamanthaTaylor_Card from CS

But I can just picture cards with flowers and ribbon, rhinestones and buttons! Don’t forget to upload your sketch creations to Scraptiv!ty’s gallery so we can all ooh and aah over what you made!
