Kelli used this tutorial to make the book: http://www.hgtv.com/crafting/domino-diary-pendant/index.html

- Use white cardstock as a base.

- Tear pieces of blue tissue paper or use TPC Studio: Boho Blooms Blue Script as the base.

- Using a liquid glue, start laying down the pieces of blue tissue, overlapping each other until the page is full.

- Adhere one 4×6” photo.

- Roll a piece of brown tissue paper and adhere in the form of branches.

- Cut out blossoms shapes from pink tissue paper and adhere on the branches.

- Add journaling and brads.

May 2010 Kit Layout – Amalia

By Nora Thorburn.

Amalia_web

- In this layout, Nora made flowers from paper towel, ribbon, and some scrap fabric from her stash. The ribbon and fabric flowers were made by gathering the lower edges of the folded fabric with a thread and needle and then rolling the gathered fabric into a flower shape. The stamens were sewn in at the same time.

May 2010 Kit Project – Esmeralda Potted Rose

Thursday, May 27th, 2010

By Janine Rachau.

- Adhere Webster’s Pages: Bloomers ribbon with blooms Aqua along the top of a 4″ pot.

- Fill the pot with crafters’ foam leaving 3/4″ at the top.

EsmeraldaPottedRose_1_web

- Begin the rose with the same technique that Stephanie used in the March kit, Janine changed it a little by using a scalloped or curvy edge to my circle.

- Use Esmerelda for this beautiful teal and red color combination.

- Janine thought the pattern to this paper was perfect! Her general template was just a guide; she cut more free-hand with a wavy edge as she went in the circle inward.

- Then, roll it just the same as Stephanie did, showing on Scraptivity’s blog. This is the base.

- Cut multiple petals free-hand, generally in the shape of a curvy teardrop. Bend, fold and manipulate them to curve and attach to the base, shaping it into the likeness of a mature rose.

EsmeraldaPottedRose_4_web

- Attach a fake flower stem and/or felted wire to the back.

EsmeraldaPottedRose_2_web

- Push it into the center of the craft foam.

- Cover the top with potpourri.

May 2010 Kit Layout – Legacy Of Hope

Tuesday, May 25th, 2010

By Janine Rachau.

You may recall seeing Janine’s tulle flower project last week. Here is the layout which she used the flower on.

LegacyOfHope_web

- My picture came with a lovely off white border. If you do not have this, you might want to add an off white border to your photograph that matches the light color of the Nadia patterned paper. Double mat with Nadia Dark side and Pomegranate.

- Start with Pomegranite as your base.

- Center Nadia light side up on the base cut 11.5×11.5”.

- Center matted photograph on top of Nadia.

- Cover a doily and 8″ of May Arts: Leaves Ribbon with Meadow Green Glimmer Mist.

- After items dry, cut the doily into two pieces about ¾ from an edge.

- Adhere larger part of doily from top near the left corner and smaller piece from bottom on the right side facing inward.

- Adhere May Arts: Leaves Ribbon along right side of the photograph vertically within the off-white border. Add rhinestones on the inside top of each leaf.

- Add an appropriate title where it looks nice and tulle flower with flourishes and rhinestones in bottom left corner of the photograph.

May Card Sketch – Focus on Flowers

As you know, this whole month, the Design Team at Scraptiv!ty has been sharing different techniques for making hand-made flowers. You can find all of those techniques here, and there are still more to come. New techniques will be posted every day until the end of May.

Because there are so many great techniques, I designed this month’s card sketch to have one large focal image. That’s right, now you have no excuse not to try out one of those new flower techniques.

Here’s the sketch:
