Photo Envelopes

Wednesday, February 24th, 2010

by Kelli Palmer.

Please see our February 2010 Notions for the envelope template. It can be downloaded from our website on this page www.scraptivity.com/newsletter

PhotoEnvelopes_web

Essentially these are glorified envelopes to give photos to someone (Kelli gave them to her sister-in-laws).

- If you have 4×6” photos, make the main part 4.25×6.25”.

- Attach an envelope template that you create or purchase. The diagonals are where you cut, the straight lines inside are where you score.

- For envelope 1, use Webster’s Pages: Postcards From Paris collection Romantique Chic.

- Stamp the lacy medallion with Versamark and cover it with Old Paper Distress Embossing Powder mixed with Sparkle N Sprinkle: Champagne glitter and heat embossed.

- Cut the letter P from the Venetian Lace and use strips of paper from Romantique Chic, Venetian Lace and Wishes Come true.

- Distress strips with Walnut Stain ink.

- Write “hotos” by hand to complete the word “photos”.

- After adhering the envelope together, add K & Company Rub-on (add-on).

- For the second one, use Graphic 45: Renaissance Faire collection Masterpiece.

- Adhere envelope together.

- Cut a 1″ strip of The Paper Company: Sheer Diamond Lace and adhered to the base.

- Use a piece of white cardstock, cover it with Tombow Mono Adhesive or other glue and make sure to have some gaps for the glitter and embossing powder to not adhere to make it distressed. – Kelli used Pebbles Inc. ABC’s stencil for the P and started with the Bronze Splendor mixed with black embossing powder. She removed the stencil and heat embossed then added the Champagne glitter mixed with Old Paper Embossing Powder and heat embossed. Then, she cut it to the size I wanted and backed it on black cardstock and distressed the edges of the cardstock.

- Adhere to the base.

- Cut one of the back of the Lace Treasures buttons and adhere.

Barb’s CHA Wrap-Up

Thursday, January 28th, 2010

Well that’s it! The feet are aching, the legs a little shorter (if that is possible) and we have survived yet another CHA show!

Lots of orders have gone in but still some to go! We are excited to see products start arriving very soon – some even on our return!

We encountered lots of opportunities for guest instructors to come and visit the hive this year. So stay tuned to see who will be buzzing by.

I leave you with a few photos of some of the booths we stopped by today!

First stop was Prima with lots of great papers, flowers and Donna Downey canvas items such as aprons, camera bags, canvas book pages made into bags and purses!

IMG_4092

Next up was full of Glam, Glimmer & Glaze – oh and chalk! Beautiful colours for all these new Tattered Angels products! Also coming soon are new chips, stamps, glass and Heidi Swap Irrestibles and new mist colours! Can’t wait!

The Graphic 45 booth surely didn’t disappoint as it looked amazing! Their new lines should be shipping very soon. Great men’s line too!

Barb’s CHA Update – Day 3

Wednesday, January 27th, 2010

We started today at the Ranger booth and they had a Designer Challenge to see what they could do with Melt Art!  Here are just a few pieces of art from people you may know!

There were some amazing works of art all made with wax in some form – some very nice eye candy.

Look for all the new colours of distress ink, all the new Tim Holtz “Alterations”, all Tim’s Anthology products coming soon. They are awesome!

After that we headed next door to the Art Gone Wild booth to order all the new Tim Holtz & Wendy Vecchi stamps along with a bunch of other stamps for Bizzy B’s – it’s going to be fun when they all come in!  We can still add to our order so if there is something you were looking for make sure you let us know soon!

Some of Tim’s new stamp samples.

We then headed over to Sparkle & Sprinkle to order some of their awesome embossing powders and they also have some glittery flock that we think might interest you!

We visited many booths such as Tattered Angels who have some great new products and some lovely new stamps along with the new Heidi Swapp products.  Sorry no photos right now as the booth was too packed to get in a shot!

Graphic 45 is ordered and on its way very soon to Bizzy B’s! (Let us know if you have any special requests for product through Scraptivity.) Again, when we got to their booth, there were tons of people so couldn’t get any photos there either (maybe it will be a bit quieter tomorrow).

After many more booths we finally made it to Viva Decor – they had a lovely booth and some wonderful products!  It’s hard to just pick a few!  Here’s a couple of photos:

Once the show closed we headed out for our now annual “Crazy Canuck Dinner”  – there were 34 of us and some amazing Italian food.

image9

Here are Brenda from Westcott and Heather from Canadian Scrapbooker!

Great to see Connie, Heather & Trisha again!

Well, that is it for today.  Back tomorrow with the wrap up of the show – can’t believe it’s almost done already! Lots of orders to place tomorrow – we will be running around that’s for sure!

Barb’s CHA Update – Day 2

Tuesday, January 26th, 2010

So Day 2 came & went extremely fast!  We started off at “Our Craft Lounge” where they had some lovely stamps and some lovely sparkly fluff – flock with glitter!  Very cute.  Then we headed to Melissa Frances where there were some lovely vintage type products coming later in the year but this layout really caught my eye by using crepe paper as a background.

The pink is crepe paper!

image2

Some Melissa Frances Vintage paper coming soon!

Then Best Creations has some of the best Glitter Paper and they had some cute Boy / Girl papers.

and a nice wedding line

image6

OOh and look who we found demonstrating Glue Foil ( a great metal product with a heat activated glue backing):

image7

Yep that is Jen Starr!  Wanna see her come back for more classes?  Let us know!

Then we came upon the Powder Painting which was a great way to use your Embossing Powders!  Check it out when we get back!

image8

Oh and couldn’t resist this line (with others) by Pink Paislee!

image9

Some cool stuff by Jenni Bowlin:

image10

And we finally did it – our Hambly order for Bizzy B’s!  Hard to choose here – so many lovely tranparencies and paper and to die for rub-ons (even used on a wooden bangle – see in store when I return if you are able to visit Bizzy B’s in Toronto).  Tony kept leaving and coming back as I just couldn’t decide (wanted them all!) If you have any requests for products through Scraptivity, please send us an email.

image11

image12

Then we ran into Cheryl at Ten Seconds Studio and boy do they have some great new metal colours and moulds and much more…..here’s a little sample!

image13

Towards the end of the day we came upon Websters Pages and they didn’t disappoint but my camera battery did! It, along with it’s owner was apparently tired and worn out!!  However, I did manage to get a taste of what’s to come so here it is – very nice!

image14

image15

Then the camera battery was done, the show was done for day 2 but it wasn’t over as we caught up with those crazy Canadian Scrapbooker girls!  Plus Tony’s birthday and that was a recipe for a terrific dinner at Bubba Gumps!  Along the way we met up with Bettina from My Stamp Box and Natalie from Germany (Prima)!

Here’s a couple of shots:
